As outlined under the ‘Enterprise Development Unit’ icon, the Council’s Enterprise Development Section is engaged in managing a number of Council/Community Committees, a host of other EU and mainstream Government-supported environmental improvement schemes, infrastructure initiatives and broad regeneration projects, the details of which are listed below:-

All of the above listed Environmental Improvement/Public Realm/Capital Schemes are at different stages of progression, from initial Concept Design/Consultation phase, Planning & Tender phase to being On-site/Recently Completed. As well as Council Capital Monies, significant grant aid has been obtained from key funders such as the Department of Social Development, Department of Agriculture & Rural Development, Peace Programme, INTERREG Programme, NI Arts Council and numerous other public & statutory sector bodies.

- Working in p’ship with DSD on Delivering a new ‘Newry City Masterplan’
- Overseeing deliver of SOAR Rural Development programme in the Newry & Mourne region
- In partnership with DSD, administrating the deliver of the Newry Neighbourhood Renewal programme
- Promoting and lobbying along with Newry Chamber for delivery on the Newry Greater Vision document
- Exploring the refurbishment options relating to ‘Warrenpoint Baths’
- Striving for the Development of a ‘Marina’ in Warrenpoint
- Working with Local Community and Central Gov to re-develop former Army Barracks site in Forkhill
- Continuing to explore redevelopment of Newry’s Albert Basin site (www.albertbasin.com)
- Working in p’ship with Private/Public sector to ensure better telecommunications for the district
- Developing closer linkages with County Louth in relation to Newry/Dundalk joint activity and the Twin-City Concept.
- Lobbying for Greater Infrastructure Linkages such as the Southern Relief Road & Narrow Water Bridge Proposals.
