Health Inequalities

“Health Inequalities are an issue we have to address. It is simply not acceptable that your life expectancy is determined by where you were born.”

Action on health inequalities requires action across all the social determinants of health. The role of the Health Improvement Worker/ Inequalities is to work to tackle inequalities in the area and provide links between the local government and the health sector. No organisation alone can solve the problems or fully use the opportunities that exist in an area, this can only be achieved by working together to develop a shared vision for the promotion of an area’s well being and to support the lifestyle changes that must happen within cultures, behaviours and attitudes to achieve a genuine focus on health.
