The Newry and Mourne Community Safety Partnership was formed in December 2004 following the Review of The Criminal Justice System in Northern Ireland (2000).
Newry and Mourne Community Safety Partnership (CSP) is continuing to encourage communities to work with the statutory and voluntary sectors to address local community safety issues.
Most recently, the CSP has developed a web based ‘Datahub’. The Datahub, which is the first of its kind in Northern Ireland, presents information on coloured maps of the wards in Newry and Mourne. The information, which is supplied by the Council, PSNI, NI Housing Executive, NI Ambulance Service, NI Fire and Rescue Service is analysed and presented in colour on the maps. For example an area which is red, may show above average levels of antisocial behaviour or call outs for the Fire Service. The site also provides the opportunity for community members to enter information on community safety issues and be mapped with the other data.
The CSP Datahub is a tool which will be used to target our limited resources more effectively to the areas that most need community safety interventions. In addition, the information on the Datahub can be used by the community and voluntary sectors to provide evidence based information to support funding applications.
