How to Deal with Unknown Callers

Most people who call to your home will be genuine.  But sometimes, people turn up unannounced with the intention of tricking their way into your home to steal your money and valuables.

You should always be aware when someone you don’t know calls at your door. By using the advice, you can protect yourself and your family.

Unknown callers may be smartly dressed, young or old, male or female and may claim to be from the council, the police, gas, water or electricity companies. Sometimes they may want to use the phone or ask for a drink of water.

When answering the door always remember to:

  • Use a security bar/chain before opening the door
  • Ask for and carefully check the callers identification
