At the beginning of the new millennium Newry & Mourne District Council is mindful of the need to address social, economic and environmental issues in a sustainable manner.

In keeping with this view and its mission statemen, the council is committed to promoting and maintaining a clean, safe and healthy environment.

These responsibilities are discharged through three departments:
