Contamination is a serious problem and can lead to tonnes of recyclable material being landfilled.

Helpful tips

Brown Bin

  • Wrap food waste in a single sheet of newspaper to prevent odour & build up of liquids in the bin especially in summer
  • Put a piece of paper in the bottom of your kitchen bin & peel vegetables directly onto it

Blue Bin

  • To prevent odour build up, remember to empty & wash all tins, cans & plastic containers
  • To achieve best use of space in your bin, squash plastic bottles, tins & cans
  • Remove lids from all plastic bottles
