Reliability/Performance
indicators
We measure how reliable our Street
Cleansing Service is by the number of complaints which we receive/detect
each week. These complaints may be raised either by members of the
public or through our own checking procedures.
On average 7 complaints are logged
each week.
Litter (N.I.) Order
1994
Councils are required to cleanse roads
and pavements throughout the district, in accordance with the Litter
(N.I.) Order 1994.
The Council undertakes many educational
initiatives in relation to combating the litter problem in its district,
including school visits, spring clean initiatives, community involvement
and publication of the Environews.
Additionally, fast food outlets are
regularly contacted to seek their involvement with litter abatement
projects. Other outlets, such as garages, are approached at dates
preceding bonfires, to seek their co-operation to dispose of wastes
properly.
