Destination Mourne - Tourism Development survey have your say!
Newry & Mourne District Council is working with Down and Banbridge District Councils and the Northern Ireland Tourist Board and to identify the next steps for tourism development and growth in the Mournes and wider area.
This includes the whole of the Newry & Mourne and Banbridge areas, as well as a significant part of Down District Council’s area.
The Northern Ireland Executive (through DETI’s draft Tourism Strategy) provides a clear, inspiring, evidence based vision and framework for tourism development. They advocate tourism delivery to be focused at two levels – national and local – with NITB taking the lead at a national level, while providing support to local tourism stakeholders and local authorities to develop and deliver Destination Management Plans.
We want to make sure that the tourism and hospitality trade - everyone who makes a living from visitors - has their say about what they want to happen next in tourism. The most recent tourism plan for the area was prepared in 2010 and now requires a review and update and we have asked independent tourism researchers BTS to prepare this. They are also conducting a consultative programme, including an electronic survey of tourism operators.
The link below takes you to the survey to give you the opportunity to have your say about opportunities, priorities and where investment should happen next. Tell us too about what could be done better and what you think the area is missing out on.
Thanks for your help. All responses will be kept confidential.
