Carrickatuke viewpoint and forest park

Believed to be the mystical home of King Lir, Carrigatuke Mountain is now covered with dense coniferous forestry plantations. A well signposted viewpoint offers a superb perspective of the South Armagh landscape. The adjoining forest is ideal for leisurely strolls, walks along the trails or just merely enjoying the scenery. Wildlife can also been seen including red squirrels in the pine areas of Bonds Hill and Deadmans Hill. Merlins have also been observed in the Carrigatuke area.
